Getting to the station
Local transit and parking
Ride to GO in York Region
YRT is free when you transfer to or from GO and pay with PRESTO, a credit or debit card, or show a valid GO fare. You get three hours from your GO tap, or two hours from your YRT tap. Many YRT stops serving GO stations are on the street, not in the station.
Lot sizes range from 160 spaces at Allandale Waterfront to 2,004 at Richmond Hill GO. The GO station pages I checked list free customer parking, with reserved and carpool spaces at many stations. Drive times vary too much by hour to quote, so test your route at the time you'd travel.
Buying with a commute in mind

Match the station to your hours
A fixed downtown 9-to-5 works from any line. Late meetings, shift work or flexible hours point to Aurora and south on the Barrie line, or Mount Joy and south on the Stouffville line.
One stop can change the schedule
Aurora GO has close to twice Newmarket GO's weekday trains, and Mount Joy has twice Stouffville's. A home between two stations can use the better one.
Hybrid week? Check your days and times
Two or three office days a week makes the rush-hour schedule matter more than the daily total.
Buy on today's service
More frequent service is planned, but without dates. If a commute only works once service improves, treat that as a bonus, not the reason to buy.
Metrolinx plans more frequent two-way, all-day service, seven days a week. No date or frequency has been published. Metrolinx
Barrie line
A second track to Aurora
A second track is under construction up to Aurora GO as part of the Barrie line expansion. No completion date has been published.
Subway
Yonge North Subway Extension
About 8 km of TTC Line 1 north from Finch, with five new stations. The tunnel launch shaft was finished in July 2026. No opening date was stated. Government of Canada
